Janet Brotherton Carson, 74, of Del Rio, gained her heavenly blessing on March 24, 2024. Janet was born on March 8, 1950, in Del Rio to parents Richard and Dorothy June Brotherton.

Janet graduated from Comstock High School in 1968 and Tarleton State University in 1972 with a degree in accounting and accreditation as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Janet married Don Carson in Del Rio. They made their home in Menard with their loving companion Zoey, for many years. They enjoyed music and being amongst friends.

Janet was passionate about her career as a CPA. She was an expert in her field and had her own successful firm for many years. She tenaciously battled cancer, against all odds, for over ten years. Dr. Jeter used Janet as an example both for the patients in her practice and the students she taught, citing her unwavering spirit and zest for life.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Don Carson; her parents, Richard and Dorothy Brotherton; and her sister, Ginger Fohn. She is survived by her brother, Richard M. 'Dusty' Brotherton and wife Bonnie of Brackettville, TX; sisters-inlaw Ann Carson Payne of Merkel, TX and Cathy Carson Kelley of Potosi, TX; nieces Brandy Carr, Lindsey Kunz and Mary Dorothy Paxton; and nephews Richard Fohn and Boyd Brotherton along with many great-nieces, greatnephews, and friends.

A visitation was held on March 29 at Amistad Funeral Home in Del Rio. Graveside services and internment followed at Westlawn Cemetery with Janet being peacefully laid to rest with her parents and grandparents.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the caregivers at the Southwest Assisted Living Center in Del Rio for their love, care, and devotion to Janet.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Methodist Church of your choice.
