Mitzi Ann Lehne was born May 22, 1943, to Mary Mc-Guffin Lehne and George Lehne Jr. She was born in San Angelo, Texas and grew up on a ranch in Fort McKavett.

Mitzi is survived by her sister Candace Rodmon of Pueblo, Colorado and her brother and sister-in-law Bill and Susan Lehne.

Mitzi loved nature, being outdoors, and working in her garden. She also loved animals of all kinds.

Mitzi graduated from Menard High School in 1961 in 3 years’ time. She was a twirler and elected football queen her senior year. She also participated in One Act Play and went to state. After high school she went to Angelo State University where she was a member of the Rambelles dance team. She then transferred to Texas Tech University where she earned a degree in Family Home Economics.

Mitzi taught elementary school in Lubbock, Austin, and Houston for 37 years. She was a favorite teacher to many, and she loved keeping up with former students.

Mitzi is survived by her children Brandi Nelson (husband Jeff), Kendall Rabon, and Zachary Rabon, sister Candace Rodmon and brother and sister-in-law Bill and Susan Lehne. She was an adored grandmother of 7 (Garrett, Alissa, Maci, Kade, Cannon, Everly, and Walter) and a great-grandmother of 4 (Presley, George, Ryker, and Hayes). She had many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews that she dearly loved. Mitzi had resided in Lubbock for quite some time with Paul Rampy, where she enjoyed the company of many great friends.

Services for Mitzi will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 2 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church in Ft. McKavett. Graveside service will follow, then join the family for a meal and celebration of her life at the Ft. McKavett VFD fire house.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Menard Manor Skilled Nursing Facility, Kimball County Hospital, and Lauren Sweeney for their loving care.

Donations to any animal shelter or the Fort McKavett Volunteer Fire Department in her honor would be appreciated.
