Friday, we travelled to Big Spring to play the Ropesville Eagles. I felt like we played really well all night but we had too many penalties. Our kids are putting in the effort to make blocks but we have to be more disciplined about doing it the correct way. Joel Guerrero had another tremendous night running the ball for almost 300 yards. After getting down a touchdown after three quarters, our kids showed a lot of heart and responded by scoring a touchdown, following with it with a big fumble recovery by Hunter Whitaker which allowed us to score a second touchdown in the fourth quarter. We felt like we had a lot of momentum after that but the Eagles managed to score with about 5 minutes remaining in the game. Ropes went for two and we had all of the receivers covered on the attempt but were unable to get to the quarterback before he scrambled in for the conversion giving the Eagles a one point lead. We still had plenty of time remaining in the game but once again, we had a penalty called on us that brought back a long run and we were not able to recover.
By the numbers:
Scoring by quarter: Q 1 Ropes 6 Menard 0; Q2 Ropes 0 Menard 7; Q 3 Ropes 8, Menard 0; Q 4 Ropes 8, Menard 14. Final Ropes 22 Menard 21.
