Letter to the Editor

Body

Editor-

After reading a letter sent in last week, I feel it is important to address the misinformation that was written.

1. The vaccine is NOT a gene therapy. It does not interact with an individual’s DNA at all. For more information, visit the CDC website, or talk to real medical professionals, not Facebook professionals.

2. The FDA approved the vaccines for emergency use, not experimental use. Data is still being analyzed constantly - by scientists and experts - making sure that the vaccines are safe.

3. Bill Gates is not benefitting financially from this vaccine. What was written here was libelous and a perfect example of “Facebook misinformation.” What he said, in an interview from 2019, was that with the investment that his Foundation has made to global health programs in developing countries, those countries could see economic impacts on the order of 200 billion. It is fair to say that Bill Gates is the greatest philanthropist of our time.

4. Out of more than 334 million doses of the vaccine administered in the US, there have been 6,079 (.0018%) reports of death. Only 3 of those deaths were connected to the J&J vaccine. There is also no known relationship between infertility and vaccination.

5. There is NO EVIDENCE at this time of the vaccine causing a miscarriage. In fact, 10 to 20 percent of KNOWN pregnancies end in miscarriage, completely unrelated to vaccine.

I think it is fair to say that the general population is benefitting, because the economy is able to reopen and get back to normalcy. The administration is not sending their people to come to your door. It is generally local officials, as well as clergymen and women, protecting their communities and trying to fight the horrible amount of misinformation out there. It is fair to say that we would not be where we are if it were not for vaccines. I am glad that we do not have to worry about horrible afflictions such as Polio, thanks to vaccines.
