During a brief respite from the relentless waves of bountiful rain, Monday in Menard was greeted by idyllic weather. Clear skies and 73 degrees graced the Menard County Historical Commission’s annual Memorial Day Observance at the American Legion Park at 10:30 a.m.

Junior Danni Ruiz enters the 1-A Reg. II track meet as the top contender in the 400m, 800m. Although Danni is the reigning two-time state champion in both races, she faces increasing pressure from young talent across the state. This year Danni has been running the mile (1600m) and will compete in that event this weekend. Danni looks to finish her three events as the gold or silver medalist to advance to the state meet.
