Menard High School senior and Calvario Baptist Church member Kristen Portilla is an all-around good kid. She is constantly proving that with her hours of volunteer community service and missionary work. Kristen is involved in all the positive things a teenager in a small town should be and is the biggest cheerleader for her peers as well.

Area Foundation wraps up 10th annual San Angelo Gives day

“The spirit of philanthropy is strong in our community and collectively we have increased awareness and raised impactful dollars for important causes in the Concho Valley,” read the San Angelo Area Foundation’s area-wide fundraising drive website. The foundation is in the process of verifying all gifts, prize awards, and amplification numbers for all participating organizations. They will soon announce the final numbers and official prize winners. Although press time numbers on the website are subject to verification, the preliminary total donation to Menard Youth Initiative is $2,850 from 8 gifts. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Concho Valley encompasses both San Angelo and Menard Clubs. The organization raised $55,375 with their 72 donations and also met a match of $10k. It is unclear exactly how the funds are distributed across the Concho Valley Boys & Girls Clubs, but Menard is in it! The program raised a (preliminary) total of $4,025, 052 from 10,737 donors across 253 organizations The Foundation, and nonprofit organizations appreciate your support.

USDA reminds producers of Climate-Smart opportunities using Farm Loan Programs

Washington, DC, April 30, 2024 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) reminds agricultural producers that Farm Loan Programs can be used to support a variety of climate-smart agriculture practices, which build on many practices that farmers and ranchers already use, like cover cropping, nutrient management and conservation tillage.
