For the sixth year in a row, Menard’s Historical Commission received the Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Historical Commission. Menard County Judge Brandon Corbin presented the annual 2020 award on behalf of the state of Texas at the July Commissioners Court meeting on Monday, July 12. County Historical Commission appointees were joined by Directors of the Presidio de San Saba’ Restoration Corporation for the award presentation.
The annual award recognizes active and well-balanced historical preservation programs which demonstrate proactive, cooperative, and service-oriented activity. County Historical Commission Appointees are expected to leave positive impressions with citizens and visitors, while promoting their county’s history and historic and cultural preservation efforts. Only about one-third of the 254 counties in Texas receive this annual recognition.
