Menard's Dora Wright was in Alaska recently for the ceremonial start of the 52nd running of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race. She packed all of the essentials- gloves, longjohns, a copy of The Menard News... Wright began her interest in sled dogs and racing with an Alaskan mushing trip of her own last year. Courtesy photo.
U.S. Congressman August Pfluger was in Menard for a town hall forum last week. Pfluger took the time to present the drum majors and band director a certificate of Congressional Recognition for the group’s second state championship earned in the fall.
