AMERICAN LEGION PARK is the site of the traditional PTO Veterans Day Parade and Auction. The park also houses a war monument dedicated to and recognizing Menard County war veterans from WWI, WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. There is also a memorial to Marine Corps General Oliver Prince Smith, who has been specifically commended for his brave actions during both WWII and Korea. Smith, born in Menard in 1893, retired as a 4-Star General. He passed in 1977. TMN photo.
