LEFT- Menard was smack dab in the of prime viewership for Saturday's annular eclipse. From the porch of Compton Warehouse, Conrad Owen took this photo which shows the moon almost exactly in front of the sun, just about to create the full ring of fire illusion. BELOW- The eclipse was thrilling, but an unexpected ground show captivated just as many. Crescent shadows were images caused by the projections of the sun while the moon was in its path.

ITS A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL- Trish Nasworthy (l) boarded a plane for her European vacation and by happenstance met David (middle) and Christi (r) Holland, who just happen to own property in Menard County off of FM 2092. Once the Menard County connected trio landed in Rome,Italy, Nasworthy convinced them to take a photo with the latest edition (at that time) of The Menard News.
