Donald Neal Wilkinson, age 87, of Menard, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, in Menard, Texas.
Don, as he was known to most, was born on April 13, 1938, in Menard, Texas, to Nealie Wilkinson and Dorothy (Adams) Wilkinson. He grew up in Menard and graduated from Menard High School in 1956. He started working for the U.S. Post Office shortly after high school. He carried the U.S.
Mail route to Ft. McKavett for over 68 years. Incidentally, it was the same mail route his father carried. He retired seven months ago from carrying the mail route to Ft. McKavett due to health issues. He also owned the Mission Theatre in downtown Menard for a few years. He worked as a D.J. for the Junction radio station for a few years and worked for Menard News for a few years. As a sideline, he sold T.V.’s and high-end stereo systems and repaired old radios. He loved dogs, music, and photography. He was also known as the Wa Hoo Board Game champion. As a child, he was raised in the Presbyterian Church. He was a lifelong resident of Menard.
Graveside services for Donald Neal Wilkinson will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Menard. Friends may view and/or sign Don Wilkinson’s online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels. com.
