Sandra L. Chambers, 80, passed peacefully in Menard, Texas, surrounded by family and friends. Hers was a colorful life!
She was born in 1944 Chicago to Perry and Eva Bateman, and an older brother, Gary (dec). Later she became a big sister to Verna (Geu), who lives today in Antioch, Illinois. She graduated from Grant High School, and soon married the love of her whole life, Harold H. Chambers (dec. 2018). Sandy adored her family – kids Lisa and Michael, son-in-law Jon, grandkids Chloe, Jenna and Mackane, and too-many-to-name-here extended family across the nation. She and Harold made homes in McHenry, Illinois and Lakewood, Colorado, then retired together to Sarasota, Florida. Sandy lived with passion, tenacity and creativity. Among the many hats she wore over the decades, she is best remembered as a self-made master gardener and artist. Her sensa-tional gardens carry-on year after year, and her paintings continue to evoke that which she treasured in her heart. Sandy will be laid to rest with Harry (former USMC) at the Sarasota National Cemetery.
Sandra lived the last 3 years of her life with her daughter in Brady, and then a few months in hospice care at Menard Manor.
Rest in eternal peace, Sandra.
