Correction concerning Mason Co. BESS projects

In the November 20, 2025, edition of The Menard News, page 9 in paragraphs 2 and 3, I incorrectly stated the Bat Cave facility in Mason has its downfalls because it is situated less than 60 ft. from a residence.

The Regis Mason, LLC project, not Bat Cave, is a 9.9 MW facility less than 60 ft. of a residence. The downfalls associated with the build, in such close proximity to a home, have been greatly documented and discussed in person, online, and in the media.

I only recognized my mistake when I was looking at the Mason County Appraisal District maps and saw the size of the tract of land the Regis facility is built on. In all of my research, I knew that small tract of land couldn’t possibly host a 100W facility as reported. As a result of the find, I began my search. Because there have been no documented or reported problems with the Bat Cave installation, it was hard to find information regarding the site other than the generous boost in local tax revenue the project has provided. I did locate the Bat Cave installation on the map with help from Menard and Mason County Commissioners. The Bat Cave project is a much larger (100MW), but much less known installation farther down the road from the substation at 2051 Post Hill St. Mason, TX 76856.

The actual Bat Cave installation is more like the RES proposed installation in Menard County because of its size. The developer, proposed placement, and size of the other proposed project in Menard Co. have not been made public at this time.
