Menard County 4-H Horse Club is hosting a 2-day summer horsemanship mini-camp with program by Texas A&M student equine instructors. This is an exciting opportunity for the young horse-lover in your life! All levels of riders are welcome. Come learn, do, socialize, exercise your horse, ask questions and more.
You do not have to be a Menard County 4-H member, if you are a current 4-H member anywhere in Texas you can participate!
Not a current 4-H member? No problem. Students still have time to register with 4-H in their county! Surrounding county contact numbers are listed below.
The clinic will be held at J&J Arena, 4 miles north of Menard on US 83. The dates are June 3-4.
Both days: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.- 4-H members grades 3 and up are inside arena with Texas A&M instructors.
Both days: 9:30 a.m. – noon- Grades K-2 outside arena, groundwork with trainers.
The camp is limited to 25 riders.
Bring your own lunch or order out from one of the local restaurants. Campers will eat while listening to instructor presentation and Q&A session (both days).
Cost is $50/ per horseback participant. Parents/spectators no charge; bring your chairs or tailgate.
All horses on the grounds must have proof of negative Coggins. NO STUD HORSES.
Camp participants must wear appropriate clothing, specifically western boots and jeans. This is a safety matter, no athletic shoes in the stirrups. Hats and sunscreen suggested.
