Texas Ramps Project ramp build happening this Saturday; Stop by to give back!

Body

The Menard Mission Team’s next planned Texas Ramps Project ramp build will happen this Saturday, June 25th. The worksite is 308 Bevans Street in Menard. Through this program, needed ramps are built at no cost to the homeowner. The end result provides safe and efficient access to a home; a necessity that may otherwise go unaddressed.

The volunteer group will begin setting up equipment at 7:00 a.m., with a construction start of 7:30 a.m. There will be a shade structure, water, Gatorade, fans, and an A/C running in the Mission equipment trailer. If you’d like to serve your community with this project, let Steve Whitson know; details below. Or just show up Saturday morning! Whitson estimates the job may be completed by 10:30 a.m.

For ramp builds, the Mission Team generally works with a team of 6-10 people. Please bring eye protection if you have it. If not, a few spares should be available.

Team Leader Randy Corbin and the local First Baptist Church have been in contact with the Baptist Church in Eden. Corbin anticipates a few Eden folks over to help, observe, and train to provide the same service in their community. When time allows, the Menard team plans to help in Eden. Texas Ramps Project Area Coordinator Robert Newman is scheduled to be at the site in Menard Saturday morning to provide support and training.

The Mission Team is also planning a trip to Mason to help with planning, surveys and programs to help jumpstart their own programs. Some members of the Menard group will later travel to help with any startups in this area. Potential Mason members are also invited to Saturday’s build.

Randy Corbin will be the official leader for Saturday’s ramp build; Steve Whitson will work logistics. To join in this project you can participate, pray for this movement, and/or pay forward. Donations can be made by mail to Menard Mission Team, PO Box 851, Menard, TX 76859. There is also an account open at Menard Bank.
