Amber Dawn Parr was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, October 28, 2021. She suffered from a pulmonary embolism following a knee injury earlier in the month. Amber was born in Ruidoso, New Mexico on January 1, 1978. However, she was raised in Alpine, Texas where she attended Alpine Public Schools. Amber was active in 4-H and FFA; and participated in numerous UIL events. She was excellent in math and enjoyed Number Sense and Accounting competitions.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Alpine; and attended Tres Rios Area Christian Church Camp for many years. She has remained close to the friends and counselors from West Texas and Eastern New Mexico she met at Tres Rios.
Amber loved helping her grandfather on the ranch. He always said she was the best ranch hand he ever had. She helped fix pipelines, work cattle and fix fence. She would do anything he needed done.
Amber attended Sul Ross State University where she was a part of the Freshman Leadership Program. She also worked on campus while she was a student where she learned excellent office skills that served her well in the workplace. Amber loved the time she was part of the Hotel Lympia team in Fort Davis. Many of the people with whom she worked became lifelong friends.
Since 2002, Amber has been the Office Manager of Ranch House Meat Company in Menard, Texas. She also manages the Venison World retail store in Eden, Texas. Amber was a very capable, smart individual who was very organized and completed work quickly and easily. She has served as a 4-H leader in Menard County and was one of the outstanding 4-H Leaders in Menard County this year.
She was a very caring, compassionate and thoughtful person whose personal notes, phone calls and special baked goods brightened the lives of others. She especially enjoyed preparing special holiday meals. “Amber’s Kitchen” beat any other place. She was quick to help with 4-H fundraisers; and loved helping the other football moms prepare and serve meals before the home football games.
However, the role of mother of Brandon Parr was her favorite one. She took joy in following his sporting events and attended every one of his Jr. High and High School Football games. She loved making every birthday special and planning fun outings for Brandon. Amber also loved organizing and hosting family reunions for the extended family. She put her special touch on everything from the invitations to the thank you’s.
Amber was a member of the Millersview Baptist Church; and was an active participant in the Concho Area Emmaus Community. She loved helping with the Operation Christmas Child project each Christmas as well.
Amber is survived by her son, Brandon Parr, and two aunts and uncles, Marsha and Max Stabel of Menard and Druanne and Homer Mills of Alpine, a special cousin, Kenneth Mills of Austin, as well as her stepfather, Jim Dacus of Alpine and her step sister, Kallie Henley of Dallas. A asual, country celebration of life service will be held to honor Amber Parr
At 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 6, at that historic old Millersview School Gym.
It is located at 12199 Co. Rd 6009 in Millersview, Texas. Millersview is located about 45 miles east of San Angelo on Highway 765. A BBQ meal will be served after the celebration for everyone in attendance. Instead of flowers, we will establish a memorial in her memory. More details to follow.
