Iowa is known for its prairie soils growing corn and soybeans, but there is a lot of Iowa that grows trees and shrubs that can provide material for wooden nickels. Six months ago I arrived with a handful from Texas, mostly Mesquite, Cedar, and Pecan, all of which were soon distributed among new doctors, without a resupply from my adopted grandson who was busy tending to hurt goats or baby lambs...
