TSHA announces new audio option to ‘Handbook of Texas’

Body

Coming soon! A new partnership providing an audio dimension to Texas State Historical Association’s (TSHA) Handbook of Texas!

TSHA will collaborate with Autio (formerly Hear-Here), a history-focused, location-based storytelling App, with the motto: Every place has a story. Now every story has a place.

Founded by Kevin Costner and William Sears, Autio uses geolocation technology to automatically play stories— many narrated by celebrities— of landmarks, cities or towns nearby, making it a fantastic road-trip companion. An Autio subscription costs just $36 annually and is available to all iPhone users.

Soon, Handbook of Texas entries for which there is a corresponding Autio story will be linked. In fact, Autio has already recorded a story called The Texas Polio Epidemic, referencing the award-winning research of their Executive Director, Dr. Heather Green Wooten. Through this partnership TSHA’s Handbook entries will be enhanced by free audio content from Autio.
