A long-time challenge within the city limits of Menard is maintaining properties up to city health and safety codes, especially after owners have moved or passed on. Besides being an eyesore, houses/structures in ill repair pose many safety issues from structural safety concerns to providing unsanitary habitats for rodents and stray animals.
