Watershed rains bring big rise on the San Saba River

Torrential rainfall across the San Saba River watersheds west of town last week led to flood stage river levels and flash flood advisories across the area. The West Texas Mesonet weather station at the Menard airport reported no rainfall on Monday, July 13, 2026; however, the Mesonet station near Ft. McKavett collected 1.90 inches that day.
