Commercial vehicle incidents keep first responders busy

  • On the evening of July 29, 2026, a loaded flatbed tractor-trailer traveling northbound overturned at the merging of US 83S and SH 29E just south of Menard due to excessive speed. No injuries were reported. DPS called in hazmat teams to tend to the unknown liquid substance spilled from a tank on the trailer.   • Tuesday afternoon, a water well truck travelling eastbound on SH 29E collided with a pickup truck stopped at the TXDOT construction traffic light at Elm Creek. The well truck was unable to stop, despite the many orange warning signs. The truck veered left, clipping the back of the pickup and consequently travelling up the north embankment and flipping over. The driver of the pickup sustained no injuries. The driver of the water well truck was transported by ambulance to Heart of Texas Hospital in Brady.
