Ruiz runs through regionals; onward to state

By Paige Wright Freshman Lady Jacket Danni Ruiz just keeps excelling on the track. This past weekend’s Class A Region 2 Track & Field Meet at Angelo State was a cool and soggy setting for Danni to bring home the hardware again.

MHS claims a couple more district titles

Boys and girls high school tennis teams played the district tournament this week at Bentwood Country Club in San Angelo. Senior Wyatt Terrell is the boys singles Class A District 12 champion.

Lady Jackets at Region 2 golf tourney

The Class A Region 2 golf tournament was held at San Angelo’s Bentwood Country Club on Monday and Tuesday of this week and the Menard High Schools girls were present and competing. After round 1 play on Monday, Lady Jacket Lorelei White was tied at 28th place.

Runnin' to regional

Robert Lee High School played host the 2024 1A District 11 & 12 Area Track & Field meet last week. Athletes qualified to compete by placing in the top 4 in each event from their district meets. From area, the top 4 in each event advanced to the 1A Region 2 meet to be held this weekend in San Angelo. Menard qualified 5 tracksters to the regional level.

Jackets clinch baseball playoff berth

Baseball is officially back in the playoffs! The MHS baseball program played a competitive game against Medina last week, ultimately dropping the contest 4-7. This puts the Yellowjackets at 2-2 in district, as runners up to district champion Medina (4-0).

Menard track programs excel at district meet

Menard hosted the 2024 12-A District track meet last Thursday, which included Eden, Panther Creek, Paint Rock, Olfen and Santa Anna. The Lady Jackets claimed the girls district champion title by a longshot with 263 total team points. Santa Anna was a distant second place with 115 team points. The Menard High School boys worked together to come out as district runners up with 139 points. First place Santa Anna tallied 219 points.
