This converted GMC truck and commercial shearing rig was found in Melvin, bound for the scrap yard when a retired sheep shearer saved it. He posted his find on Facebook, and a grandson of the original owner recognized it. The auto now resides in the hands of the family, and may be destined to its own museum exhibit. Photos by R. The shearing rig pictured above originally belonged to Fecundo F. Deanda from the Menard area, back when Menard was true sheep country.
An artist from San Angelo— and former sheep shearer himself— came across the vintage outfit in Melvin, Texas, and saved it from being scrapped. He then posted photos of his find on Facebook’s “Texas Sheep & Goat Shearing Official Group.”
