Why am I bringing up the dreaded C-word again? Because IT’S BAA-ACK! Unfortunately, there have been confirmed COVID cases across our area. It has not yet been determined if local infections are the new variant of the COVID-19 virus.

Healthcare workers are seeing both reinfection—after you’ve already had it once—and also infection among the vaccinated. The good news is patients do not seem to be as sick as the first round of the virus.

If you fall ill and start showing symptoms, you are encouraged to get tested and/or self-isolate immediately.

YES, you can get the virus if you have been vaccinated. The point of the vaccine is to lessen the symptoms to therefore avoid a hospital stay. If you have been vaccinated and start showing symptoms, you should get tested and/or self-isolate immediately.

As of press time, the closest place to get a free COVID vaccine is in Brady. Call the Frontera office there (325-597-0464) if you’d like to receive the Moderna or Pfizer vaccination.

On August 20, another vaccine clinic will take place in Menard. More details to follow on that.

Let’s all be careful out there. And wash your hands!
