Excessive flooding can contaminate your private well
Menard County's recent extreme flooding event, as shown above in Judge Corbin's July 4 photo of Menard Manor, has the possibility to contaminate tour private water well. The Underground Water District's Meredith Allen offers some tips and actions if you believe your well to be affected.
If your well has been flooded, you should assume that the water in it is contaminated. Do not use the well water for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing your teeth or even bathing until you are satisfied that it is not contaminated.
