Leopoldo “Leo” G. Montalvo— also known as Leo Trevino, aged 60— passed away on August 28, 2021 in San Antonio, TX. He was born in Piedra Negras, Coahuila, Mexico on November 1, 1960 to Aniceta Guillen and Francisco Montalvo Trevino.

Leo graduated from Menard High School and was known in school for being popular and fun-loving. In Menard, he worked at Compton Warehouse, Menard County Court House, Kothmann Feed, Dairy Mart (back in the 80’s), plus for many local ranchers & farmers. Leo loved growing his own garden also. He was very involved at Mission Calvario Baptist Church in Menard as a teen through the years before marriage. Leo was known to many for his funny sense of humor and character. He loved to fish, camp and hunt in Menard County and anywhere he was allowed. He loved going to Corpus for his fishing trips and seeing the ocean only to come back looking like a lobster. He had many trades he could accomplish as many discovered through life. Remembered by the siblings for often competing in cooking and baking with brother Francisco and little sister Sonia. Maribel was not an exception.

Before settling in Kerrville, Leo lived in Eagle Pass and San Angelo. He was in Kerrville for 28 years and you’ve probably bought a doughnut or two from him while he worked at Doughnut Palace. In the last few years, he worked at Austin Truck & Machinery.

Leo met his wife Elsa Huitron Ramirez when she was 18 years old. She lived in Mexico at the time and met Leo while in America for summer church camp in Menard, TX. They married on December 17, 1988.

Leo often volunteered at Ministry for Fellowship hosting food drives and meal prepping. He had an exceptional gift for cooking and loved to provide food and ministry of Christ to others. In is his free time he enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. Leo had a big heart and showed love to any one he came across; he never knew a stranger.
