Delfina Laing Gonzales went to be with our Lord on December 24, 2024. Delfina was born on December 26, 1933, to Genaro and Biviana Laing in Duck Creek, Texas. She was the second youngest of eight siblings. She was raised in Melvin, Texas, where she attended school and met the love of her life, Santos Gonzales.
Delfina and Santos were married on January 21, 1951, in Melvin, Texas. They moved to Menard, where they raised seven children.
Delfina, Santos, and their children worked as servants to their church and the Hispanic community. She devoted her time and displayed her compassion for others by serving as Lab Technician and X-Ray Technician at the Menard Hospital for over 30 years. Then she also worked in El Dorado and Sonora TX and finally finished out her medical career in Eden, TX at the age of seventy. Delfina was strong in her convictions and fiercely loyal to family. Her life's work was instilling values, nurturing, creating traditions, and making lasting memories with her family.
Delfina was preceded in death by her parents, multiple siblings, her husband, Santos, and her oldest daughter, Ida Gonzales Rodgers, who was married to Charlie Rodgers.
She is survived by her children Cynthia and husband Roy Morales, Hilda and husband Larry Sewell, Delfina Gonzales, Santos Gonzales Jr. and wife Diana, Noe Gonzales and wife Brenda, and Eric Gonzales and wife Chandra. Delfina is also survived by multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Eric Gonzales Sr., Roy Morales Jr., Eric Gonzales Jr., Ray Morales, Mario Gonzales, and Ethan Gonzales.
Honorary Pallbearers will Marrisa Holguin, Santos Gonzales III and all of Delfina's grandchildren, great grandchildren, and greatgreat grandchildren.
Rosary was held on December 31, 2024, at 7:00 PM with viewing to follow, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Menard.
Funeral was held on January 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial following at Garden of Memories.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of Menard.
