Jerry Mann Rambo of Menard passed away on September 3, 2022, at the age of 95. He was born February 8, 1927, to Claude Rambo and Charlotte Volkmann Rambo of Menard. Jerry was a native of Menard and grew up learning to love the land and the importance of agriculture. He graduated from Menard High School in 1945, where he excelled in football, basketball, baseball and track. After high school, he served in the United States Army and was discharged from the Pentagon building at the end of World War II. He married the love of his life, Nila Lou Harris of Eden in 1948. Together they had three children, Tenzy Marie, Jerry Mann, Jr. and Cary Dean Rambo. Nila preceded him in death in 1964. Jerry later married Elizabeth Sue Steed, together, they had two children, James Dietrich, Dewey Franklin Rambo and stepson Vince Smith.

Jerry loved his Lord, his family, his farm and a good meal. He enjoyed watching church services each Sunday morning on TV. In his younger years, he enjoyed going dancing, driving his 18 wheeler truck and spending time on his farm. Jerry was a lifelong farmer and rancher in Menard County. His family roots run deep, owning land in Menard since the late 1800’s. Jerry was a large producer of hay in the area for many years. You could find him most evenings admiring his farmland overlooking the peaceful San Saba River and watching the deer and turkey. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his wives and his sister Dionitia Rambo Lyckman. He is survived by his children, Tenzy Bradley and husband John of Buda, Mann Rambo and wife Lori, Cary Rambo and wife Amy of Menard, Dietrich Rambo and wife Loren of Lubbock, Dewey Rambo and wife Amy of Amarillo. Grandchildren, Juste Bradley, Jahna Cathey, Bryan Thigpen, Lindsey Neel, Zach Rambo, Riley Rambo, Blaine Rambo and Noah Rambo and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his niece, Drue Lyckman Bearden and husband Jerry of Mason, Nephew, Monte Lyckman and wife Susie of Menard and very special friend Tracey Speck of Menard.

Pallbearers are grandsons, Juste Bradley, Zach and Riley Rambo, Blaine and Noah Rambo, Bryan Thigpen and family friend Tracey Speck.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 9th, 2022 at 11:00 am., at Heritage Funeral Home in Menard, with visitation on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 pm. Following the service, burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery. Eric Kothmann will be officiating the service.
