Jo Carolyn McCain, age 81, of Menard, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in Menard.
Jo Carolyn was born on March 16, 1943, in Travis County, Texas to Earl Leslie Whitehead and Mamie Everal (Fleet) Whitehead. She graduated from Rankin High School in 1961.
She married Jack Cone McCain on November 30, 1961, in Rankin, Texas. She owned and operated a flower shop in Menard for several years before joining her husband in operating JCM Oil Field Services, which they operated for over 20 years. She was a gracious, warm, loving woman who loved her grandchildren and loved to cook. One of her passions was taking in strays, be it dogs, cats, goats or kids. She always saw the bright side of things and the good in people. She attended Menard Cowboy Church in Menard. She had lived in Menard for over 47 years.
Jo Carolyn McCain is survived by her sons Bruce Mc-Cain and wife Melissa of Cypress, Texas, Cone McCain and wife LaShawn of Lubbock, Texas, Russell Musgrove and wife Anita of Poth, Texas, and daughter-in-law Yessica Mc-Cain of Raton, New Mexico; brother Don Whitehead and wife Glendy of Possum Kingdom, Texas; sisters Bobbie Broyles and husband Arky of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, Billie Sherman of Montgomery, Texas and Tommie Anderson and husband Charles of Portales, New Mexico; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Mitchell Scott McCain. A memorial service for Jo Carolyn will be held at 1:00 p.m. on March 13, at Hillside Christian Church, 6206 Norwich Ave Lubbock, TX with Pastor Brad Ingram officiating.
