Rebecca Bermea Constancio, age 88, former resident of Friona, current resident of Hereford, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025, peacefully at home.
Rebecca was born in Menard, Texas on April 23, 1936, and lived most of her life in Friona since the late 1960s. She was the daughter of the late Ezequiel and Maria de Jesus Morales Bermea.
Rebecca worked as a food server in the Friona Junior High School Cafeteria serving students their meals. Many of those students were her own children and grandchildren, which always brightened her day and brought a smile to her heart. She was also a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking, she was known for her famous lemon merengue pies. Rebecca was a devout Catholic and active member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, in Friona, Texas for many years.
In addition to her parents, Rebecca was preceded in death by her former husband, Fred Constancio Jr.; son, Fred Constancio, III; son, Cosme Constantino Bermea Constancio; son, Lucas Bermea Constancio; daughter, Dora Bermea Constancio Pence; three brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by her children: Joel (Isidra) Constancio, Ezequiel (Angie) Constancio, Linda (Raymon) Chavez, all of Hereford, Texas and Nina (Michael) Bozell of Austin, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; She is survived by one remaining sister Aurora Ramon, of Coleman, Texas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday April 11 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 115 N 25 Mile Ave, in Hereford, Texas, with Fr. Nick Gerber offi ciating. Interment will follow at Ropesville Cemetery in Ropesville, Texas immediately following church services. The family will receive family and friends at Parkside Chapel Funeral Home, 601 Main Street, Thursday from 4-6 p.m. where the Holy Rosary will be offered at 6:00 p.m.
