Tomas M. Ortega Sr. went to be with the Lord on February 24, 2022, at his home.
Tomas was born in Hencock, Texas to Ubaldo and Apolonia Ortega on February 11, 1930. He was married to Juanita Estrada on January 1, 1956. They were married 66 years, and had four children - Thomas Jr., Rangel, Omega, and Olivia. They had 13 grandkids, 20 great grandkids and many nephews and nieces. He was very blessed and very well known.
Tomas sheep sheared, hauled hay, a man of many trades. He enjoyed fishing and picking pecans and walking to Pic-N-Pac and scratching lottery tickets. Spending time with family was always a joy, and he loved dancing and playing guitar.
He will be joining Thomas Jr. and grandson James and all his brothers and sisters. Rosary was held at 6:00p.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Heritage Funeral Home of Menard. Funeral Mass was be held at 11:00a.m. on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Menard. Burial followed at Rest Haven Cemetery Menard.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of Menard.
